EECOM

Welcome — EECOM

The Canadian Network for Environmental Education and Communication (EECOM) is Canada’s only national, bilingual, and charitable network for environmental learning. EECOM works strategically and collaboratively to advance environmental learning. We strive to ensure Canadians are environmentally literate… which means we’re engaged in environmental stewardship and contributing to a healthy and sustainable future.

EECOM acknowledges that the work of both our Board of Directors and our members occurs on Indigenous territories.

Invitation to National Research Symposium on
Environmental & Sustainability Education in Teacher Education (ESE-TE)
May 26, 2023

The ESE-TE national network, part of the EECOM community, invites you at attend its biennial Research Symposium on Environmental & Sustainability Education in Teacher Education (ESE-TE) on May 26, 2023 at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University of Toronto, on the territory of the Michizaagiig of the Credit. Join researchers and teacher educators from across Canada dedicated to ESE-TE to learn more about leading research in this field. This hybrid Symposium invites both in-person and online involvement, and has been purposefully aligned with the start of the CSSE conference for those already traveling to Toronto.

Its theme, “Teacher Education for a Sustainable Future: Call to Action for Climate Justice” shares presentations of scholarship focused on the critical role teacher education plays in helping society work toward an equitable, just and sustainable future. It builds on the momentum for more substantially integrating ESE into teacher education at Canadian universities, and considers how the launch of the Association of Canadian Deans of Education’s Accord on Education for a Sustainable Future promises to accelerate working towards these goals.

Detailed information about the Research Symposium is found here. Deadline for registration is May 7, 2023.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event in May –
