If you
are interested in securing a $50 registration discount, contact
Elizabeth Kilvert at “elizabeth.kilvert@ec.gc.ca”
or (905) 336-4411 as soon as possible indicating which of the
tasks you are willing to help with. Once we have accepted the
maximum number that can be accommodated, a waiting list will
be created. Note: All those who are accepted will be asked to
register for the conference and pay the full cost of their registration.
They will receive a $50 cheque after they have completed the
work at the conference.
What
is involved?
Registration
Welcome participants as they arrive, check their membership
status if appropriate, provide them with registration packages,
and direct them to their accommodations if they are staying
onsite. We will need some helpers who are conversant in French.
Silent
Auction
Assist the committee running the silent auction. This may include
spreading out the donated items on tables with the bid sheets,
supervising the area, or collecting payments at the end of each
round of bidding.
Audio-Visual
We will need people to move audio-visual equipment to the meeting
rooms where they are needed, and to ensure that they are working.
You do not need to be an expert, but preference will be given
to those with experience linking digital projectors to laptop
computers.
Translation
Besides having professionals in a booth translating the larger
sessions at the conference, we will be using a more portable
system from York University for sessions with less than 50 people.
You would be working in tandem with another amateur translator,
sitting in a corner of the room speaking quietly in English
or French into a microphone.
