{"id":595,"date":"2024-04-25T17:13:06","date_gmt":"2024-04-25T17:13:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/?post_type=event_listing&#038;p=595"},"modified":"2025-11-21T21:12:42","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T21:12:42","slug":"eecom-2019-conference","status":"publish","type":"event_listing","link":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/event\/eecom-2019-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"EECOM 2019 Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thank you to everyone who helped make the EECOM 2019 Conference a success!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>May 10-12, 2019 <\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The EECOM 2019 Conference took place on the bank of the&nbsp;South<a href=\"http:\/\/www.southsaskriverstewards.ca\/the-south-saskatchewan-river-basin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a>Saskatchewan<a href=\"http:\/\/www.southsaskriverstewards.ca\/the-south-saskatchewan-river-basin.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> <\/a>River&nbsp;at the&nbsp;University of Saskatchewan&nbsp;on Treaty 6 territory, Saskatoon, Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The theme of the EECOM Conference in 2019 was <strong>\u201cAction on Climate Change Through Education,\u201d<\/strong> making this the first national environmental education conference with a focus on climate change education. Our aim was to increase action on climate change through education by bringing together educators, students, policy makers, researchers, and community members to discuss and collaborate on this important and timely topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Four concurrent session strands focused on PreK-12 Education, Higher Education, Community Education, and Indigenous Education. There were keynote plenaries, panel discussions, hands-on workshops, place-based field trips, pre-conference field trips, leadership seminars, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference was co-hosted by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/saskoutdoors.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Saskatchewan Outdoor and Environmental Education Association<\/a>\u00a0(SaskOutdoors), the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sepn.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sustainability and Education Policy Network<\/a>\u00a0(SEPN), and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seri.usask.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sustainability Education Research Institute<\/a>\u00a0(SERI) at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usask.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">University of Saskatchewan<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":1248,"template":"","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0},"event_listing_category":[46],"event_listing_type":[19],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event_listing\/595"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event_listing"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/event_listing"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/1248"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=595"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"event_listing_category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event_listing_category?post=595"},{"taxonomy":"event_listing_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.eecom.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/event_listing_type?post=595"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
