Thank you to everyone who helped make the 2024 Outdoor Learning Conference a success!
May 9-11, 2024
The 2024 Outdoor Learning Conference took place in the Banff Centre in Alberta.
Over 500 participants from across North America attended the 2024 Outdoor Learning Conference, which was presented in partnership with Take Me Outside, the Global Environmental and Outdoor Education Council of Alberta (GEOEC), and the Outdoor Learning Store.
The overarching theme for the Conference was “Place and Pedagogy: Where Learning Happens”. The Conference focused on Indigenous Ways of Knowing, Health and Wellbeing and Environmental and Climate Change Education. 140 different sessions were offered thanks to 147 presenters who came to share their wisdom and expertise. We heard from experts in these fields through keynote presentations, panel discussions and hands-on, educational workshops.
Thank you to the Keynote Speakers: Professor Louise Zimanyi, Elder Dr. Albert Marshal, Chúk Odenigbo, and Colleen Elep for sharing and creating insightful dialogue on topics of Indigenous Learning, Climate and the Environment, and Health and Wellbeing.
Thank you to the Youth Changemaker panelists: Alyssa Trick, Larissa Crawford, Leanne Sweeney, and Maya Carr for engaging in discussion around the future of outdoor Learning and their role within this field. Thank you to the moderator Dr. Sarah Brown for leading this discussion.
